Marketplace for medical equipment
A digital marketplace helping hospitals manage, resell, and redistribute used medical equipment.
Medinas Health built a software-fueled marketplace for reusable medical equipment, tackling a $765 billion problem in U.S. healthcare waste. The platform helped hospitals value their existing capital equipment, redeploy and track equipment across their systems, and quickly resell, donate, or recycle used devices. Founded in 2017 by Chloe Alpert, Jesse Avshalomov, and Tim Growney, the company graduated from Y Combinator (S18) and raised a $5M seed round led by NFX. Medinas handled everything from initial inventory assessment to shipment and reinstallation, creating a full-service solution for hospital asset management. The company has since shut down.
Medinas caught our attention as a sustainability play in healthcare — tackling the staggering waste created when hospitals discard functional medical equipment. With a YC pedigree, NFX backing, and a marketplace model that handled everything from valuation to reinstallation, the startup showed promise in a massive but overlooked market. Unfortunately, the company was unable to sustain operations and has since shut down.
