AI-powered EHR for private practices
An AI-assisted, cloud-based electronic health records platform designed specifically for private medical practices.
MedSwift Technologies built an AI-assisted, cloud-based electronic health records (EHR) platform designed to save private medical practices time and money. Unlike traditional EHR systems built for large hospital networks, MedSwift focused on the specific workflows of smaller practices — including obstetrics & gynecology, internal medicine, and psychiatry — offering features like patient engagement, secure EHR transfer, e-prescriptions, insurance billing, advanced analytics, telehealth services, and website development. The company charged per data usage rather than per provider, a pricing model better suited for small practices. Founded in 2019 by Amir Mustefa while at Columbia University, MedSwift was backed by LTF Ventures. In June 2021, MedSwift was acquired by IOSoft, a subsidiary of RJD Green Inc., where its platforms were integrated into IOSoft Suites alongside payment systems, claims processing, and communications tools.
MedSwift caught our eye as a scrappy Columbia student-founded startup tackling the notoriously frustrating EHR market from the bottom up — targeting small private practices that enterprise players like Epic and Cerner largely ignore. Their per-data-usage pricing model was a refreshingly practical approach. The team was acquired by IOSoft just weeks before our feature, validating the thesis that modern, AI-first EHR tools for small practices were in demand.
Discovery signal: Columbia University startup ecosystem, LTF Ventures backing, AI-first approach to EHR for underserved small practice market
MedSwift differentiated by charging per data usage instead of per provider and building specialty-specific workflows for small private practices, an underserved segment dominated by bloated enterprise EHR systems.
