About

Mount is a software platform that converts mobile assets at vacation rental properties — bikes, scooters, golf carts, kayaks, and more — into rentable amenities for guests. Originally founded as Mount Locks (a hardware smart-lock company), the company pivoted to a pure software marketplace model targeting the short-term rental industry. Property managers and hosts use Mount to list equipment and local experiences, while guests can discover and book them seamlessly. The platform now features a marketplace of over 40,000 experiences combining rentable equipment, guided tours, and local knowledge. Founded by Madison Rifkin (Northeastern University) with co-founders Rishab Nayak and Zack Martin, Mount participated in MassChallenge and raised funding from General Catalyst and Scribble Ventures.

DailyDropout Take

Mount caught our eye as a clever hardware-to-software pivot story — a college founder who started building bike locks at 12 evolved the concept into a full vacation rental amenities marketplace backed by General Catalyst. With 40,000+ experiences on the platform, they've carved out a unique niche at the intersection of micromobility and hospitality.

Discovery signal: Young founder with deep domain passion, Northeastern dropout energy, early General Catalyst backing, and a successful hardware-to-software pivot.

What Makes Them Unique

Mount uniquely combines equipment rentals with local experiences and tours in one platform purpose-built for vacation rental properties, turning idle assets into revenue-generating amenities for property managers.
