Squarespace for 3D websites
No-code platform to build immersive 3D virtual world websites.
Muse makes the 3D internet accessible by empowering creators and brands to transform flat 2D websites into immersive virtual 3D experiences. Founded in 2020 by Benjamin Ha and Alexander Shortt, the company started by building SpacesVR, an open-source React framework for 3D web development, before launching a no-code editor that works like Squarespace or Wix for 3D websites. Backed by Y Combinator (S21 batch), Muse enables anyone — from musicians and artists to brands and educators — to build interactive 3D websites without writing a single line of code. The platform has been used to create over 200 immersive web experiences.
Muse caught our eye as a bet on the 3D web before the metaverse hype cycle — two UCSB grads who started with an open-source framework and graduated to a no-code builder that makes immersive 3D websites as easy to create as a Squarespace page.
Discovery signal: YC-backed, open-source traction with SpacesVR, early mover in 3D web creation tools
Muse is the only no-code builder purpose-built for immersive 3D websites, combining the ease of Squarespace with the power of three.js and react-three-fiber under the hood.
