About
Streem built an augmented reality communication platform that transformed how home service professionals interact with customers. Using a smartphone camera, homeowners could instantly connect with service professionals who could remotely see the item needing attention and guide repairs using AR tools. The platform combined enhanced AR, computer vision, and machine learning to help professionals more quickly and accurately diagnose breakdowns, take measurements, find angles, and complete repairs — all without an in-person visit. Co-founded by Ryan Fink (who previously sold smart glasses startup OnTheGo to Atheer) and Sean Adkinson (former CTO of Provata Health), Streem raised over $10M from investors including General Catalyst, Flying Fish Ventures, Betaworks, and Rogue Venture Partners. The company was acquired by Frontdoor, the country's leading provider of home service plans, in December 2019 for a combination of cash and equity.
