Founded in 2011 by Adam Ierymenko after frustration with slow, manual networking inside a U.S. government project, the open-source project launched on GitHub in 2013 and has since grown to support over 3 million connected devices and 600,000 network administrators across 230+ countries. ZeroTier's peer-to-peer architecture minimizes latency through direct device connections, secured with 256-bit end-to-end encryption and unique cryptographic device IDs.
